Lions acquire WR Northcutt from Jags

06/30/2009 - Allen Park, MI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Detroit Lions acquired wide receiver Dennis Northcutt from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for safety Gerald Alexander on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Northcutt, who spent the last two seasons with the Jaguars, caught 44 passes for 545 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games, including three starts, in 2008. He spent the previous seven seasons with Cleveland. For his career, the wideout has 364 grabs for 4,584 yards and 17 scores in 128 games (59 starts).

Alexander, 25, was selected in the second round (61st overall) by Detroit in the 2007 NFL Draft and started all 16 games as a rookie. He finished with two interceptions, as many sacks and 59 solo tackles that year, but tailed off in 2008, playing in only five games, starting one and recording six tackles.
